On a chilly Sunday afternoon, I lunched on vegetable barley soup and a substantial wedge of apple pie with melted cheese at the Bent Street Cafe. Thus fortified, I took a walk over to Ledoux Street and visited the Harwood Museum. I particularly like their permanent collection of Taos artists and the New Mexican santos and bultos in the upstairs gallery. However the Harwood also features changing exhibits of contemporary artists. On this visit I saw an impressive exhibit by Maye Torres, a Taos artist.
I was able to do some early Christmas shopping at Wabi Sabi (Japanese home and personal accessories, plus some beautiful antique kimonos) on Paseo de Pueblo Norte and The White Lotus, on the Plaza (ethnic clothing and other things from Asia, particularly India and Tibet).
